Success is best measured with satisfied clients. The following are samples of completed projects I have worked on, including project parameters and results attained over the course of my consulting practice.

Pipeline Construction

Initially contracted as a consultant, I began management of a pipeline construction project in the hills of the Appalachia. With minimal existing assets to start with, my small team and I built a gas gathering system in West Virginia and Ohio valued in excess of $1.2 billion. During the project, I became Senior Vice President for Construction and Operations. My responsibilities included supervising project permitting, right-of-way acquisition, procurement management, engineering support, materials and equipment selection, project management, organization building, and operations of the pipeline system.

Included in this construction was the interconnects to several interstate pipelines, including SpectraEnergy, TallGrass, Columbia Gas and Dominion Transmission. I worked with my team to direct communications with these pipelines to coordinate the taps, connections and metering. By working closely with the pipeline company’s project managers, we had gas flowing in their systems in minimal time.

Field Operator Safety & Training

After a large independent producer in Colorado suffered a near fatality due to the actions of an inexperienced operator, I was retained to evaluate the field operating personnel’s knowledge base and develop a custom training program for the team. Upon reviewing field operators’ daily responsibilities and practices, I developed then conducted a training program on basic oilfield knowledge. Subjects of training included field gas gathering, gas treating, and compression & gas measurement. The training program reviewed the basics of “how things work” and “cause and effect” to ensure onsite safety and field operating efficiency.

Management Review & Supervising Company Sale

I was retained by an oilfield business owner in Houston to evaluate the company’s management team and business structure. My analysis brought to light concerns and suspicions of management malfeasance, which led to the resignation of the general manager who took several key employees to a competitive company.

During this critical business re-structuring, at the request of the owners, I became acting general manager of the company. By right-sizing the organization, stabilizing customer relations and implementing best practices in the fabrication shop, the company returned to profitability in less than four months.

Furthermore, I partnered with the owners to establish an exit strategy, prepping the company for a successful sale. This included locating appropriate buyers, negotiations and coordinating the transition of the organization to the new buyers.

Compression Site Efficiency

A Dallas-based production company ask that I evaluate their existing gas gather system in north Louisiana, which included nine operating rental compressors. Collaborating with the local midstream company, I coordinated a central delivery point to minimize compression sites from nine to one, significantly reducing field compression costs and improving field performance via system modeling. The results reduced the producer’s monthly compression rental fee by over $65,000.

Investment Prospect Evaluation

A venture capital group acquired my services to evaluate technology associated with a potential investment worth several million dollars. Upon research and review of the technology, we determined the company’s product was not fully developed, the group had significant faults in its business model, and the company had overpromoted the uniqueness of the technology related to new compressor designs. The venture capital group agreed with my assessment and passed on the investment. Within six months, the tech company was out of business having gained few new investors.

SCADA System Data Optimization

For an industry-leading midstream corporation, I was brought in to evaluate the company’s existing SCADA system with the goal to advance its gas compression performance monitoring. With experience in compressor sites using SCADA, I worked with the company’s IT and SCADA departments, where we utilized existing communication and software to capture compressor operating data. This data, including exception reporting, was made available to field operators via Internet or text message. Implementation of recommendations came with minimal expense and would result in reduced mechanical downtime.
